My Focus: Keeping Roseville on a Strong Path Forward
As a neighbor who is deeply committed to a safe and healthy Roseville, I plan to actively listen, engage, and collaborate with both the community and the city's leadership.
I will bring an authentic approach to my city service, focusing on transparent communication with genuine concern for the well-being of every resident - because every voice matters.
Here are my thoughts on some of our pressing issues:
We should all feel safe in our community. Ensuring safety is the most important responsibility of the city, and while candidates often profess their commitment to public safety, these are far more than words to me.
Our family actively supported the 2018 Measure B ballot initiative in Roseville. This measure was instrumental in protecting many aspects of our quality of life, including boosting our public safety staffing levels.
Public safety has always been important to my family, which is full of first responders, both police and fire. As the mother of a police officer, my commitment to public safety is personal. I want to ensure they have adequate staffing for backup and support when needed, so they can safely go home to their families at night.
Response times are critical for all of us. I will push to grow our staffing as the city grows to ensure fast response times. This means we'll soon need to add an additional police beat and then another fire station for the western area of the city. We want to remain a place where public safety professionals want to come work so we can hire and retain the best. This requires adequate pay/benefits, modern equipment, excellent training, and a positive culture.
As a longtime supporter of the Roseville Police Activities League (RPAL) and an active member of the Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (RCONA), I will promote organizations and policies that foster positive relationships between our public safety and community. These relationships help to keep our community connected and safe.
Western Roseville is experiencing intense growing pains with the already-approved construction. The city expects that a "full buildout" will occur in roughly another decade. In the meantime, most residents of District 5 are suffering through the growing pains.
Scott has worked hard to accelerate the process of bringing amenities, but with him terming out, I will absolutely continue the important work of bringing needed quality-of-life amenities to our western community. My focus will include:
- More commercial/retail options - We all have to drive across town for a variety of services and I understand that the sooner we can attract the right businesses and help cut the red tape so they can build more quickly, the better for the residents and our city's economy. This includes more grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, gas stations, professional services, and a post office. I'll volunteer my time to reach out to potential commercial business owners/groups and help connect them with the various commercial property owners and push for accelerated permitting and inspections.
- Youth, family, and senior activities - The lack of youth activities is causing stress in our retail areas, and most city-sponsored youth, family, and senior activities require us to drive across town. I'll support plans for our D5 Pistacio Regional Park additions with a community center and pool. It should also include a skate park and BMX "pump" track, which will alleviate damage to our other parks not designed for skateboards, bikes, and scooters.
Our play structures get too hot in the summer so we need more shade features added. I will support parks with shaded play areas, at least one park with significant water features, and more accessible features for those with disabilities.
To protect the quality of our best-in-class public services, I will focus on the following:
- Ensure Roseville has enough water resources and storage to support its growth, even in future drought conditions.
- Support decisions to guarantee high-quality, reliable, and affordable public utilities.
- Keep our roads, parks, trails, and open spaces well-maintained.
- Encourage more technology-enabled customer service approaches to give residents the tools to stay informed and access services.
I aim to support the economic drivers that fuel our quality of life.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. They provide 85% of all jobs in our city. As an experienced businesswoman, and someone who has signed the front of thousands of paychecks, I understand the complexities and costs of doing business in CA. I’ll take proactive steps to ensure that Roseville continues to be a city that is easy to do business in and to help eliminate unnecessary red tape.
I’ll support the city’s efforts to attract new businesses and jobs to Roseville to improve our tax base and give residents more opportunities to live and work in the city.
We’re very fortunate to have plans for two new universities on Roseville’s borders. I’ll support collaborative efforts to help these projects come to fruition because they’ll bring good jobs, internships, and benefit our local economy.
Roseville has another decade of already-approved growth and most of it is in District 5. It’s imperative that as we grow, we have leaders who have an eye on the future and a commitment to sustaining the quality of life for generations to come.
I will champion smart zoning and proactive infrastructure planning to support our growth. I’ll work to ensure that our roads are built out to accommodate the needs of our neighborhoods and commercial spaces.
As a businesswoman with a proven track record of business expertise and CEO leadership of multi-million dollar nonprofit organizations where I stewarded public funds to deliver community-based services, I am committed to allocating resources wisely, prioritizing public safety and essential services, and maintaining budget transparency. I will approach budget constraints in a manner that protects and preserves our public safety and quality of life.
I have successfully weathered many difficult financial storms in my career and my skills will be an asset to the community during times of budget constraint.
In April, I attended the Solaire Park opening - Roseville’s 87th park. 87 parks and 4 more to open this year! That is something to treasure and be proud of. It is tremendous to live in a city that values libraries, parks, trails, and outdoor recreation the way Roseville does. Yet, some newer neighborhoods are still waiting for their first park and to have their bike trails connected. I’ll support getting these projects completed.
I also firmly believe that we thrive when we support the health and success of ALL in our community. I will take a collaborative and compassionate approach while addressing our city’s most complex social challenges – food and housing insecurity, homelessness, behavioral health, and substance abuse. Roseville has been the most proactive in the region in implementing creative solutions, including its social services unit (SSU), problem-oriented policing model, and housing assistance programs. As a social worker, I’ve got the training, background, and understanding to promote ongoing solutions and productive collaboration between the city, Placer County’s Health & Human Services department, and community-based service providers to address the unique needs of Roseville’s most vulnerable youth, families, veterans, and seniors.
